The Erie Classic Pool League is enjoying it's second year of exciting and challenging competition. The inaugural year saw a league comprised of eight five-man teams. Two additional teams joined this year for the 2007-08 season. The Erie Classic Pool League is an exclusive pool league organized for the "best players in Erie County". For future years, the plan is to limit the league to twelve teams. First and foremost, the Erie Classic Pool League is about the pool.
A unique format has each competitor playing five games of eight-ball and five games of nine-ball every week. Each team member plays a rack of eight-ball and a rack of nine-ball against each of five members of an opposing team in a round robin format. A match takes place on two 7 foot bar-tables. All venues have at least two pool tables. The season is twenty-four weeks.
The Erie Classic Pool League is a handicap league. The league employs a player rating and handicap system developed by Paul Schofield. The Handicap system takes into account skill level combined with win/loss performance.
